What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is a fermented tea drink made by adding a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) to sweetened tea, typically black or green. The fermentation process produces a slightly effervescent, tangy beverage that contains probiotics, enzymes, and organic acids, which are thought to benefit digestion and gut health. Kombucha can be flavored with fruits, herbs, or spices, making it a versatile and popular choice for health-conscious individuals. Its origins trace back over 2,000 years, with roots in East Asian cultures, and it has gained widespread popularity in recent years.

Is Kombucha Fizzy

Kombucha has a natural light sparkling or fizz due to the fermentation process. Sometimes this is complimented with a forced carbonation to increase the fizz.

Does Kombucha Contain Alcohol?

Kombucha contains trace amounts of alcohol, typically less than 0.5% or the same as a ripe banana.

Does Kombucha Contain Caffeine?

Kombucha contains tea, which is a source of caffeine.

Is Kombucha Safe For Those Who Are Pregnant?

Kombucha contains live cultures, caffeine and trace amounts of alcohol. It is always best to speak to your GP if you are unsure.

What Are The Bits In My Kombucha?

Our kombucha is raw and unfiltered which means it continues to live in the bottle. You may therefore find yeast strands or even a mini pellicle in your bottle. These are completely healthy and can be consumed without worry. If however, you'd like to remove them, simply filter through a tea strainer or coffee filter to remove.

Is Kombucha Suitable For Diabetics ?

Monty Booch kombucha is made with a sweet tea using sugar which is eaten away by the SCOBY. We do however back sweeten our kombucha when we flavour it. If in doubt, please speak to your GP

Is Monty Booch Kombucha Shelf Stable?

Monty Booch Kombucha is live and therefor not shelf stable. It should be kept refrigerated when being stored.

Is Monty Booch Allergen Free?

Although we don't add any allergens to our drinks, due to us currently sharing a production facility, we cannot guarantee cross contamination hasn't taken place for any allergen.
